Tom Rogers -WPSS CEOWestern Pacific Storage Solutions has a reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality storage equipment. We are understandably proud of that.

That said, we have always believed we can get better. In our relentless pursuit of continuous, incremental improvement, we believe it is always good to review the basics.

2020 has been a rough year for everyone, but some good things have come out of it for us and our customers are reaping the rewards.

StaircaseWe took a hard look at our processes. We have built more efficiency into engineering, from streamlining estimating to CAD operations to project management. By bringing greater efficiency to our engineering process, we could improve lead times and produce an even higher quality product.

We verified that our blueprints and control plans reflected lessons learned and confirmed everyone companywide has access to this wisdom assuring conforming products with consistent tolerances on every piece we deliver.

These internal communication improvements have resulted in a drop in complaints and we’ve seen a difference in the type of complaints.

Engineering ProcessIn addition, we’ve had 70% fewer returns. And we’ve seen a big difference in the type of returns.  Now, returns are more often due to a customer ordering too much material.

Key to these results has been our team approach to continuous, incremental improvement.  We all worked together: plant managers, supervisors, engineering leaders, financial leaders and the sales department for the benefit of our valued customers.

I look forward to seeing you soon—please reach out.
Regards, Tom
