Remembering Pete Dunn
Peter George Dunn of Phoenix, AZ, passed away the morning of July 3, age 80, while walking his dog Hannah in the high pine country outside Williams, AZ. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Dunn, of Phoenix, AZ; his daughters Kati Peterson, of Tulalip, WA and Sarah Dunn, of Garrison, NY; his stepsons Marc McCown of Sun City, AZ, and Robert McCown of Melbourne Beach, FL; his grandchildren Sydney, Nick, Emily, Alec, Harry, Alice, Kailee, Carissa, Eli, Stephen, Raegan, Joshua, Reece, Brody; his great grandson Brody; and numerous family and friends.
Born June 26, 1942, in San Mateo, CA, Dunn graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Arizona, where he served as student body president and received the Nugent Award for outstanding graduating senior. He earned his law degree at the University of Arizona, where he was an editor at the Arizona Law Review and received the Aigler Award for outstanding graduating law student. As a lawyer he maintained a longtime solo practice, as well as being of counsel to Jones Skelton and Hochuli between 1991 and 2004, and legislative counsel to the Arizona Judges Association. As an author he contributed to Udall’s Arizona Laws of Evidence. He further shared his legal expertise by serving as an at-large member of the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Arizona and as a member of the Arizona Judicial Code Review Committee. His business career flourished as he demonstrated a keen sense of the marketplace and a natural capacity for leadership. The WPSS family was extremely luckily to have Pete as our Chairman of the Board for many years he was a great partner and friend and he will be very much missed.
