Western Pacific Storage Solutions welcomes new Sales Engineer

Western Pacific Storage Solutions (WPSS) has promoted from within and expanded its sales team.  Former New Product Development Engineer, Kyle Baltz has accepted the position of Sales Engineer, with a focus on platforms and mezzanines. Kyle brings over 20 years of Materials Handling experience to the position and a strong engineering background to help achieve customer objectives.

Dealers and distributors in his western territory that includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming will work with a professional on day #1 with outstanding WPSS product familiarity and insight.

Kyle’s new role has a unique need. He’s promised that in seismic activity regions, he’ll be providing engineering solutions that are validated and certified for seismic requirements. He’s looking to maximize west coast opportunities and bring more platform business to the company through his dedication to end-user seismic needs.

Customers can rely upon Kyle to provide innovative solutions to their material handling needs. During his past few years as WPSS’ New Product Development Engineer, his product designs have resulted in several patents, and his contributions to WPSS include the redesign of the company’s SureSTEP line of mezzanines, platforms, and conveyor platforms, as well as the SureSTEP OSHA & IBC-compliant stairs, cross-over bridges, railings and guardrails. “I’m a good problem solver, I have the ability to drill down and get to the heart of a design need or storage solution for the customer.” Kyle elaborated.

CEO Tom Rogers is optimistic about Kyle’s new position in WPSS. “Creating a specialist position in platforms allows us to provide the customer with focused attention on their needs and requirements,” he said.  Senior VP of Sales, Joe Cascio, added “We are also aligning resources internally to provide a more rapid response for quotes that gives our dealers a competitive advantage.”

Kyle expressed his enthusiasm for the new role. “I’m excited about getting to know, connect with and support our dealers and understand end-user needs.” He continued, “I’m proud to be part of the WPSS team, knowing that WPSS is giving this product line the focused attention and support that it deserves.”

When asked about how he’ll build upon his already existing success with WPSS, Kyle answered, “I’m working to streamline the quoting process; I’m digging into the costing models to provide a competitive advantage with our products and better pricing opportunities.” Kyle has also spent the better part of the last year studying WPSS systems, looking for ways to streamline the materials handling process for customers. “I know how to manage the technical back and forth. I’m looking forward to getting to know dealers and understanding their process cycles.” 

Kyle’s education and background as a mechanical engineer is part of the confidence he brings to WPSS customers. He gained early experience through his college internship with a company that produced intricate ironwork and metal smithing. “I’m a hands-on person. I know how to do metal machining, welding, and more. I get my hands dirty.” Kyle said. He further noted that he applies these valuable skills to other interests, like airplanes, cars, and mechanical systems. “I know how to build something from the ground up. The skills I learned from my father, a building contractor, enhance my ability to translate engineering and building principles into better materials handling solutions for our customers.” He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and held leadership positions in several fraternities and committees.

Kyle is more than just an engineer, though. He thrives in leadership positions. As the former president of one company, he invented a novel clothes hanger design. Independently, Kyle engineered several product families, and regularly built relationships with stakeholders and customers.
